Dr. Maccabee specializes in minimally invasive surgery. As the medical director of the Weight Loss Surgery Institute of the Central Coast, he has built a bariatric surgery program at the new Marian Regional Medical Center specifically to serve patients from the California Central Coast. He has a great deal of experience with Gastric Bypass, Sleeve Gastrectomy, and Lap Band placement, as well as complex and revision stomach surgery, and sees patients both in Santa Maria and San Luis Obispo. Previously a clinical faculty member at Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland, OR, he also specializes in treatment of GERD (acid reflux), Hiatal hernia repair, treatment of Barrett's esophagus, and swallowing disorders, offering the most sophisticated care in the region for these problems. Dr Maccabee also routinely performs Laparoscopic adrenalectomy, athlete and complex hernia repair, and colon & intestinal surgery.

CENTRAL COAST, CA – (March 7, 2013) – Recently, David Maccabee, M.D., F.A.C.S, and Daniel Oh, M.D., F.A.C.S., performed Marian Regional Medical Center’s (MRMC) first Laparoscopic Adrenalectomy surgery – the surgical removal of a rare adrenal gland tumor. Due to MRMC’s recruitment of expert surgeons and investments in the most advanced surgical and medical technology, Santa Maria resident Alex Ochoa, 31, was able to have this rare tumor removed in his home town.
