Laparoscopic Gallbladder Surgery

The gallbladder is an organ that stores bile which is made by the liver. Frequently stones can form inside the gallbladder and these cause pain and problems by blocking the duct which drains the gallbladder. Patients suffer abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting, usually after eating. Often an ultrasound test is used to diagnose the stones. Surgery to remove the gallbladder cures the problem - this can be done through 4 very small incisions on the abdomen or a single incision in the umbilicus.
